Best Sandwiches For Lunch & Breakfast
Looking for the best sandwiches to try this fall in the Post Falls area?
You’ll have to look a bit outside the traditional. While a good turkey or ham sandwich is a wonderful comfort at times, there are better sandwiches to have. Here at The Old European, you’ll find the best sandwiches from the Old World are some of the best to try in the new one.
If you’re looking for a good sandwich to warm you up this fall, here are a few you should give a try. A good lunch will make for a better workday, so treat yourself a good old European sandwich today!
Greek Chicken Sandwich
Chicken salad is fine…until you want something a little different, which may not be all that long until you need a little more.
Old European’s Greek Chicken Sandwich is just that.
We take a hoagie roll instead of sliced bread for the perfect sandwich, spread it with minced garlic and butter and toast it to golden perfection. Then we layer on pieces of herbed chicken breast. That gets topped with sauteed artichoke hearts, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes.
Then we add crumbled feta cheese. The result is a Greek flavor to a chicken sandwich that will warm you as the days get colder.
Reuben Sandwich
Sometimes, a classic is a classic for a reason. One of the best-known and most popular sandwiches is the Reuben, and Old European’s is one of the best in the area. Some people are put off by the sauerkraut, but those who have tried the Reuben sometimes lose the taste for any other sandwich.
Ours is the classic formulation. Grilled sauerkraut sits atop hot sliced corned beef and Swiss cheese, with dressing on dark rye bread. It may not be reinventing the wheel, but it’s a great sandwich done right and better than at many so-called “sandwich shops.”
Black Russian Sandwich
The Black Russian is very popular in some areas but isn’t necessarily the best-known sandwich recipe. That’s a real shame, too, because it’s an excellent one that deserves a lot more attention. Give it a try and you’ll see why.
The Black Russian is an Old World twist on a Dagwood, featuring sliced turkey and roast beef, piled high on dark rye bread with Swiss cheese, tomato, and lettuce. The rye marries so well with the turkey and roast beef that you might have to tell white bread that your relationship is over.
Monte Cristo Sandwich
The perfect brunch sandwich – the Monte Cristo. French toast, with ham, turkey and Swiss grilled to perfection until the cheese melts. We serve ours with homemade raspberry jam, creating a perfect union of quality European breakfast and lunch foods along with both sweet and savory flavors.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Sometimes, a little comfort food goes a long way. As to sandwiches, there are few quite as comforting as a grilled cheese sandwich. Nothing quite pairs as well with a cup of soup either, which our sandwiches come with.
Just as in the television show “Seinfeld,” a sandwich is a hearty snack, but soup and a sandwich? That’s a meal.
