5 Reasons to Go Out to Dinner, Alone or Otherwise

Ever consider why going out to dinner, lunch, or breakfast is a good thing? It’s something most people do but, it’s also important to know why something is good for you. Going out for a meal isn’t just an opportunity to escape cooking and cleaning or to try something new, it’s an important form of socializing as well as relaxing. Even if going out to eat alone, you’re still socializing. Not only with the staff but, with yourself.

Let’s talk about why going out to dinner, lunch, or breakfast is important and healthy, whether by yourself or with others.

Reconnect with Family without Stress of Cooking and Cleanup

Family dinners can be intense. Partly because of the bickering over who helps with what and who cleans which dish. Time with the family around the dinner table is becoming too uncommon as well, perhaps not just for that reason. Though, that is another topic. What going out with your family does do is reduce the chores to bicker about. You have the opportunity, when going out to eat, to enjoy the company of your loved ones. You can discuss the menu, how things taste, what you did that day, and all without doing a disservice to one another by commenting on the meal. After all, if you never liked your mother’s pancakes then you don’t have to fib or eat them. Going out to eat at a restaurant removes those kinds of situations and creates a more relaxing environment.

Date Nights Keep the Relationship Strong

Don’t lose the spark. You probably have heard that any long term relationship is partly about not losing that spark that led you to fall in love, to begin with. That’s partly why a date night is so important. It’s too easy to fall into a routine of work, home, talk, work, home, talk, work, home, kids, errands,  etc. Going out to breakfast, lunch, or dinner with your partner is a great way to relax with them.

You don’t have to be as formal as you were in the beginning, you’ve reached a new level of intimacy that allows you both to be more relaxed with each other. Going out to eat with your boyfriend or girlfriend also helps build communication. It’s just you two and the meal after all. Doing it as part of a romantic routine keeps things interesting as well. How many times can you cuddle on the sofa and watch television after all?

Go out to eat with your partner. Whether you’re eating out for breakfast, for a quick lunch, or for dinner. Switch it up and try new things together, that includes traditional European food.

Work Lunches are Better for Business Relationships

Bringing the team together by going out for a business lunch, business dinner, or even a business breakfast can lead to a new cohesion that an inhouse pot luck can’t. Socializing is important for business too, it’s why there are network events. Going out to eat can be important in helping client onboarding, discussing business deals, or just creating camaraderie with coworkers.

Nothing beats working outside of the workplace. In an office people tend to behave differently than outside of one, they are more relaxed and more confident. Everyone knows how to sit at a dinner and talk, after all. Nothing beats relaxed face time and many of the most important events in history were during people breaking bread.

Alone can be the Best Option

Everyone needs some time alone and it doesn’t always have to be in your house. Going out to eat alone means no small talk, enjoying something on your own terms, and get to enjoy your own thoughts without worrying about being rude to someone. Think of going out to eat for breakfast, lunch, or dinner as a kind of meditation. A moment where the only multitasking you have to do is getting the food from the plate to your mouth. You have the time to savor flavors, perhaps think about how they made it, or stick to your nutritional diet without worrying about upsetting your dining partner.

Going out to eat alone is a very healthy thing that shouldn’t have a social stigma around it. Choose to enjoy the meals you wish without needing someone else to do it. Eat your way, on your own time, the way you want!

Opportunity to Experience Something New

Going out to eat is the opportunity to do something new. Whether that be alone, with family, with friends, or with business associates. It’s something we should all do more often and not out of laziness, though that is a very reasonable excuse; who wants to cook for themselves all the time?

At the Old European we create an environment for everyone to dine the way they wish, with traditional foods that they are likely never to have known, and for any reason they want.

Come on in and reconnect with friends, family, make business deals, or just to get away and relax.
